I brought this notebook off ebay the previous owner forgot his password so i cant install anything. As i need the password. Ive followed the steps but when i try to type in the commands my keypad doesnt seem to enter the keys. Help very frustrated!!!!!

The console doesn't give feedback when you type when sudo asks you for passwords. If you want to reset the password you can run:

whoami

to get your username then reboot and hold SHIFT. You can then select recovery mode, then root and run:

passwd foo; reboot

change foo for your username you gained earlier. Eg:

passwd andy; reboot

You can now use your new password to log in as well as authenticate admin tasks. I suggest you contact the seller to tell them where they slipped up

Thats just it i go to the recovery mode and then i cant type anything for some reason nothing happens when i type.
