Can't login to Ubuntu 12.04

When I logg in I type in the Login: which is server

Then When i got to the password the keyboard doesn't work and i can't type anything.

I'm not sure i never made a guest account, My screen is black and it sais Ubuntu 12.04 LIS Ubuntuserver tty1 and its like command prompt but on the whole screen, I just did a fresh install today.

When you type passwords, you don't get any feedback. Just type the password and hit ENTER

OK, well i just tryed that i got Invalid password :( maybe i entered it wrong. or can't remember what i typed before

Then reboot and hold SHIFT and boot to recovery mode, then select root. Then run:

passwd foo; reboot

Change foo for your username. Eg:

passwd andy; reboot

You can now log in with your new password.

thanks I did it another way in revovery mode i went passwd username then changed it, but didnt work so i remounted the drive, thanks for helping me mate.
