unable to uninstall screenlets

I tried to install screenlets for a tar file and now I cannot uninstall this is what it says E: Unable to lock the download directory

Probably adding sudo in front of the command will solve that part of it then.

OK. I know how to solve that one. I just need to be where I have access to
the right documentation. I'll have an answer for you in a few hours.

Or even sooner. You need to add:

overwrite-local = 1

to:

/etc/python/debian_config

see:

man pycentral

for details.

thank you scott for the Info however I'am new to ubuntu and still trying to understand the command line ,when I try to put in the command line /etc/python/debian_config it tells me permission denied, I also try it as root and same thing permission denied ,chances are I'm doing something wrong if you could give me a step by step on how to make this work I would greatly appreciate It thank you

I'm probably not the best person to help you with the specifics of how to
edit the file. I use Kubuntu, not Ubuntu and the GUI methods are different.

well to resolve this problem I had to reinstall the operating system, however I do this once in awhile when my system starts to act up or become buggy sometimes it's a good thing to start fresh, however I'm still no further ahead as far as installing screenlets or untarring tarballs I'm still having problems in these areas, so if anyone has any input in these areas I would greatly apperciate it
