Canon PIXMA MG6220 works as wireless scanner with libsane 1.0.23

Thank you for all your effort. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin 64-bit and performed an apt-get dist-upgrade of my libsane package to 1.0.23 via the sane-backends PPA http://ppa.launchpad.net/nathan-renniewaldock/sane/ubuntu.

I am happy to report that my brand new <b>Canon PIXMA MG6220<b> All-in-one printer/scanner is recognized as a PIXMA MG6100 device. The printer works with CUPS 1.5.3 using the Gutenprint 5.2.8 package. The scanner works with xsane 0.998 over my wireless network connection.

I added my device's network URI, a static IPv4 address, into <code>pixma.conf</code> for it to be recognized the first time. After that, it doesn't seem to need it, as my printer is on my local LAN segment.

device `pixma:MG6200_canon-mg6220' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MG6100 multi-function peripheral

Yes. ScanGear MP v1.8 works directly and also through Gimp for my printer/scanner. I'm happy that libsane-pixma made it work with Xsane so I didn't have to switch to different software.

thanks very much for this - couldn't get my cannon pixma mp 560 scanning with scangear till i read the line 'I added my device's network URI, a static IPv4 address, into <code>pixma.conf</code> for it to be recognized the first time.' - that was all it took

I had been using HP Deskjet 4535 MFP Scanning feature within Ubuntu 16.04. However after installing 18.04, it didn't worked, as mentioned by Tanama. (While I had fresh installed 18.04, my home directory was same as one I had used for 16.04.)

I verified that "hplip" package was installed during 18.04 stock installation, and tried simple-scan, sane-utils, hp-setup, hp-probe and so on. None of those attempts worked. Even Gimp -> Create -> xscanimage didn't helped.
