How can two folders be synchronized?

Asked by Guenter Manigel

I am looking for a sync tool that allows folders on different devices to be synchronized. USB stick, external hard drive. I am running ubuntu 10.04 LTS. From the little research I did on available programs, Ubuntu One might not be what I need because it (the way I understood it) does not sync to external hard drives? I came across "unison". I would appreciate any comments and pointers. I am not (yet) an experienced linux user! Thank's.

You can use rsync or zsync. if you use grsync for a one off to make the command, you can then cron the command to run the job every 5 mins or so (or as required)

Can you help with this problem?
