My 5th gen iPod Nano cannot see the music that RhythmBox uploads to it. What do I do?

Neewbie question:

My 5th gen iPod Nano cannot see the music that RhythmBox uploads to it. Using Karmic Koala and totally new to Linux.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

1. Go to Application menu (top bar beside the unbuntu logo) and select Add/Remove

2. Type in search box for gtkpod and it will search it for you.

3. Tick the one you want for gtkpod

4. Press Apply button and it will install it for you. It will ask your admin password to install apps.
It will automatically installed the applications for you.

5. It then should be in application menu ===>>> Gtkpod under Applications menu ===>>>Sound & Video

6. Gpxpod is under Applications menu===>> Graphics

But the newest ipod 4/5 generation Ipod is "closed" hardware with "closed" software thx to Apple inc. :(
Maybe you have think of a dualboot situation: windows<==>ubuntu....to run itunes, or via virtualbox.
