Rythmbox Music Player

Asked by Nicolas Panozzo

I don't know how to orginize the library such as create folders in the library for each album. Also Rythmbox Music Player doesn't recognize titles and artist names.

Is there any alternative to Rythmbox Music Player I can download and install?

If Rhythmbox is unable to identify your songs it means, that there are no information stored in the ID3 tags of your music files.
Without that information Rhythbox can't categorize your music. Other players will have the same problem.
You should edit the ID3 tags of your files. This can be done in Rhythmbox by editing the properties of a file.
To do a mass edit you can use a tool like exfalso. It can be installed via Synaptic.

I installed Exfalso but I don't know how to use it. Do I have to rename every single file plus have to input artist, album and so on?

I expected Rythmbox to recognize the information upon inserting CD in the CD player.

Any other advice?

So you've copied music off of a CD? If you have internet access, Rhythmbox tries to find out the names of the artist, album, tracks etc. This doesn't always work, especially with lesser known or very short CD's.

If Rhythmbox doesn't fill in the correct information, you can edit it BEFORE copying the music to your Library.

Note also that you can mass edit in Rhythmbox to: select all songs of one album and then change the album's name and year for all tracks.

I edited the tracks and then I extracted them to the library but all information bar the titles went lost.

Also is it possible to create folders in the library? Otherwise everytime I extract a CD the tracks are mixed up with the tracks of the other CD's.

No, it is not possible to create a folder there. The music library is an automated index which just finds your music an extracts the information in the file. When this is done you can do searches over it.
Think of it more like the Google search engine then on your local files and folder. You also can't create a folder on Goggle.

To get structure inti your music you will have to fill supply metadata to the files in other words: edit they properties.
