how can i connect my ipod touch to a linux laptop

ok i try a lot of thing to connect my ipod touch to linux laptop on add/remove a download gtkpod and it can find my ipod touch i try my friend ipod classic and it connected why can my is ther any thing that i can download so i can connect my ipod touch to my computer like transfering thing to my ipod to a ather ipod touch plzz help no links only if help alot

If there is an option set the ipod to disk mode ( i don't have an i-anything as I hate apple products )
