I have used gtkpod extensively with several iPods. It's a tricky app, but you will eventually manage to get to know it.

In the meantime I am not an iPod fan, but I like music so if what you want is to get the music out of the ipod, that rather easy:

1. Fire Rhythmbox (Gnome standard) or Amarok (KDE standard)
2. Choose and mark the files you want
3. Copy them with "Ctrl+C" or "Edit->Copy"
4. Go to "PLaces->Music" or the folder where you want this music to be
5. Paste it with "Ctrl+V" or "Edit->Paste"

Off you go ;)

ive gtkpod a shot, you will end up using it, which does not mean you will ever like it.

I like it 'cos it works when other don't!®

Can you help with this problem?
