Rhythmbox worked perfectly for 2 weeks. Now when I attempt to play any file I get the error message above. Aside from codecs I have not modified the program in any way

Hi,

Many questions to help us to understand :
- Have you make a sound test (via another tools like vlc or via the gnome panel sound)
- Do you read a music on your hard drive or a USB key ?
- What is your version of Rhythmbox and Gstreamer ? (dpkg -l | egrep "gstreamer|rhythmbox")
- What is your version of Ubuntu ?

Best regards

Restarting Rhythmbox didn't help, but a reboot made the problem go away.
