Banshee, Rhythmbox, Gtkpod, and Amarok all can sync with an ipod. However, they cannot play files downloaded from iTunes. Also worth noting, if you have used your ipod with iTunes 7, then you may have to get an upstream version of one of those programs in order for it to work.
