multi media not supported

i was using ubuntu 12.04 with out installing (means by booting pen drive) but it not play any media file i.e audio and video
it says while playing - Python (v2.7) requires to install plugins to play media files of the following type: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder
     please give solution

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
