Ubuntu Music Store Gone from Rythmbox

Asked by John Tinsley

All:

I believe this may be relative to my recent installation of Ubuntu 11.10, but won't swear to it...

Ubuntu One Music Store is now missing from my sidebar in Rythmbox. I searched through the plug-ins and it's not there either. I used to have it in my Ubuntu 10 days, and used it inside of Rythmbox without issue for quite some time.

I still have Ubuntu One on my computer, and it stays in sync with my cloud, etc.

I re-installed Rythmbox, with no change. Added Jamendo just to see if ANY store would show up, and that installed perfectly.

Anyone have any idea how I can get it back? It is definitely my store of preference.

Thanks in advance!

you are correct, the default music application for Ubuntu 11.10 is Banshee. The Ubuntu One music store plug-in is not included with the Rythmbox plug-ins in synaptic . Rythmbox will be default again in 12.04

Thank you very much!

I tried to find a plugin regardless, without success. Suppose I could get creative, but just not that ambitious at present. I'd rather not bounce around - sort of a creature of habit, but what the heck.

Banshee it is until I move on to Ubuntu 12.

Each item is stored as a unmarried record on disk (plus replicas). So one 500MB object in swift will be saved as three 500MB files on disk (one for every replica). There is no striping or parity or erasure coding or some thing like that. See demo here http://www.customisable.co.za/
