RAR version is very old and beta – need new version.

The current latest version of RAR for Linux (32 and 64 bit) is v3.9.3—a stable version. The version in the repository is an ancient beta. Please, I beg you, upgrade RAR to the latest version. The versions are available at www.rarsoft.com.

Hello

Answers is not the best place to ask for a software upgrade. Here we help people to solve simple problems in their use of Ubuntu, we can't decide to upgrade a software :)

What I suggest you is to look for RAR on Launchpad and simply fill a bug report asking for the upgrade. That's the best way to get in contact with the people managing RAR in Ubuntu.
