alsa / pulseaudio suddenly produces a stange kind of static sound, oss still works(HDA intel STAC92xx)

uname -r
2.6.27-11-generic

There might be some conflict between alsa and pulseaudio. I think als is generally the preferred one to keep and so it might be worth using this trouble-shooting guide to help

I'm sorry Tom but I don't really have the time at the moment Tom. But I'll be sure to respond any questions on this thread ofcource.
I also think my standard was pulseaudio instead of alsa btw because I could playback sound with multiple programs at the same time, again not sure about that.
I think its very strange that everything was working perfectly untill +- last week, so I'm going to be a mystery for a while untill I have the time to put my teeth into the problem.
