My loudspeaker did not work, so I tried to re-install PulseAudio and can see no way to do so.

Try in terminal [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[t]

sudo apt-get installl --reinstall pulseaudio pulseaudio-module-x11

Reboot and see.

Thank you for your suggestion. Sadly it did not fix the problem. On checking the Ubuntu Software Center History for All Changes, I believe that the code you gave me did not reinstall anything (BTW: you spelled install with three l's - thus 'installl' so it didn't work at all until I left off the third 'l').

To recap on the original problem I was trying to fix when I inadvertently deleted some pulseaudio code:

The originally-working built-in loudspeaker in the Netbook had stopped working, after either I installed Skype or I forced a major software update. The sound devices shown in the Sound section of the System Settings then only showed Analog devices for Input & Output. The socket for external mike & headphones still worked, however. In trying to cure this problem, the items that I appear to have Removed (other than Skype) are:

pulseaudio (1.1-0ubuntu15yanshui1)
ubuntu desktop (1.267)
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth (1.1-0ubuntuyanshui1)
pulseaudio-module-x11 (1.1-0ubuntuyanshui1)
pulseaudio-module-gconf (1.1-0ubuntuyanshui1)
indicator-sound (0.8.5.0-0ubuntu2.1)
libcanberra-pulse (0.28-3ubuntu3)

Questions:
1. Is there no simple way I can just re-install ALL previously-deleted?
2. If there isn't such a simple way, how can I reinstall the above items?
