Hibernation not working on Ubuntu 12.04, toshiba c650

I have a Toshiba C650 PSC12E laptop with CPU - intel i3 M350 2.27 GHz.

I recently had 11.10 installed on which hibernation was working properly. Then I formatted the partition and installed 12.04. All of a sudden there is no hibernation. This is a regression because it used to work on the previous version.
