you should try skype.. there is a new skype with webcam support for ubuntu...

first of all check out if your webcam is found by ubuntu.*(you may use cheeze or something like that)

Hi

i installed wine and this allows me to use yahoo messenger and i use Pidgin Internet Messenger to make the camera work you must be invited. You can't enable your webcam your self. This is as far as i'm with yahoo video chat.
It might be possible to use Empathy IM Client too.

with regards
Ronnie

@shababhsiddique,
- i am now downloading Skype Download for Linux (Ubuntu 8.10+ 64-bit) at http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux/choose/
- the built-in web cam is fine using Cheese Webcam Booth.

@Ronnie Barnes
- i am using Pidgin Internet Messenger, I asked my sister to invite me for a web conference so I can check if its possible.
- if the Skype won't work, I'll then try to use wine, then Empahty IM Client.

Thank you for your replies. I will give you an update later.

@Ronnie Barnes

I installed Empathy 2.26.1

How can I invite for my contacts to view my web cam? I don't see any web cam icon anywhere in the program.

In the Conversation Contact option, the following is grayed (not click-able )Call, Invite to chat room and Send file.

What is wrong? I was told Emphaty has video/ audio features!
