Is there a way to get pitivi updates automatically?

Hello dear ubuntu-pitivi community.

The "problem":

A couple of days ago I reported a bug (bug #710567) which was resolved by updating pitivi (0.13.4->0.13.5) using the ppa:gstreamer-developers.
Now, although I'm very thankful for the helpful tip I got (the need to upgrade and how to do so),
I was quite surprised that I need to do it "manually", as I'm using Update-Manager regularly (Check=daily).
Bottom line: Is there a way to make Update-Manager take care of pitivi updates automatically?

System background:
-------------------------
(1. I'm quite a lay-person with regard to Linux and Ubuntu)
2. I running lucid-lynx (10.4)
3. Update Manager IS set for {[Important security updates] and [Recommended updates]}
but NOT {[Pre-released updates] and [Unsupported updates]}

The bug will be reviewed and the package updated if it is deemed good

The updates will come down when the repo is updated and the updater software scans for changes

A PPA is an additional repository. With a PPA, you don't manually update packages; they receive updates automatically just like packages provided by the official repositories.

As actionparsnip says, you will receive the update once it's ready for general use. If you need it immediately, you can enable the PPA, and then update your system, and you'll receive the update. Both of these ways are automatic, once configured. Using the official software sources but not the PPA is what you currently have configured, and unless you *know* you need the PPA version now, or otherwise know what you're doing, you're better off just waiting for the update.

What you write describe how I thought things work.
That is why I reported a bug and didn't ask for help: for what I knew I was using the "official" version of the package.
Then I got the reply that this version is "outdated" and "obsolete".
I have no doubt that the guy who helped me knows what he is writing, and reality proved it, as the problem is over now.

So what I don't understand is how come I'm using Update Manager daily and still ends up with a version that is said to be outdated and obsolete?

Is it a special case with PiTiVi (or at least with the current version handling) or am I missing something?

Ubuntu's official policy is to not provide software updates to stable ubuntu releases (other than security updates and minor bugfixes).

The "official" way to get updates from the pitivi project is to use the gstreamer-developers PPA. Those updates will show up in update-manager.
