can't connect to msn

Asked by Dok

Hi

A few days ago I installed Pidgin 2.4.1 on ubuntu 8.0.4. I have 2 accounts, 1 in icq and the other in msn.

The icq account works fine but I can't connect to msn.

I get the message: <email address hidden>,il disconnected.
Connection error from Notification server: Unable to connect

I was connected when Pidgin was installed on ubuntu 7.10

If anyone has an idea....

thanks

Did you check the port no in pidgin preferences for msn protocol?
Maybe its incorrect..
Good Luck

Connecting to msn on Pidgin works fine for me on default settings. Perhaps you may be interested in kMSN available in the repositories?

Maybe, still, I prefer to correct it, if possible...

Besides I am using Gnome

I just restarted pidgin and it works. It seems to happen after a wile that I don't touch the pc

you may try to use Amsn for deciding on your system can connect or not.
by the way Amsn looks like MSN.and its more familiar than pidgin.and it has webcam support too.

Does Amsn supports icq?

I don't believe so... I think its a remake intended for msn only. But you can run Pidgin and aMSN at the same time.

Amsn doesnt support icq...its only for msn..and as CloudFX said, you can run pidgin and amsn at the same time..we already do that mostly...

Just now I saw your reply. For now, for some reason, it works fine. If it will happen again I will do what you have suggested.

thanks a lot
