not on server list

 I try to add a buddy, give the details, then it's telling me: not on server list... How I add somebody to the server list?

Are you sure the ID is correct? Sometimes you may have to issue it as <email address hidden> format and not just the ID.

Answer what? I'm having the same problem. And yes, the ID is correct and entered as <email address hidden>. I must have tried it a dozen times. I get "Could not add buddy to server list" and I can find nothing else that mentions a server list much less adding anything to it.

I have the same problem !
I recently use this software, it took old contacts of yahoo messenger but when I want to ad a new one I have the message "not in server list" !
Could anyone help us to solve the porblem ?

I have the exact same problem. When I use yahoo messenger on windows it works fine, but not with pidgin. Please give us some a resolution..

I would suggest you use the "Create bug report" option on this question to file a bug report about this issue. Describe the exact steps you use and the exact text of the error message. For example:

1. Click the Buddies menu
2. Click ...
3. Set the "xxx" field to "yyy"
4. Click blah

I found out what was wrong. In the field labeled "buddies screen name" only put the screen name and not the domain (@yahoo). When I just put the screen name in, it works fine!

Well, it is actually not related to Pidgin or Ubuntu.. I tried to add by using the whole e-mail id e.g. <email address hidden> through the Yahoo! Web Messenger, and although it adds, it ultimately shows the same error on the buddy list of the messenger "Not on server list". So, basically it is a Yahoo! problem to handle or accept their own e-mail ids as the username.

Can you help with this problem?
