Perl in 11.04

Asked by Peter

I have used Ubuntu for 5 years and developed programs in Perl. On starting the upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 a warning said Perl is not supported. If I upgrade will I be able to run my Perl programs?

Ubuntu 11.04 still has Perl, so I'm not sure what the problem would be. However, if you get a warning like this when upgrading, you should not ignore it. Can you provide the full and exact text of the message?

Hi Eliah,

In the upgrade dialogue before the upgrade starts is :-
No longer supported by Canonical(17) That is 17 packages as follows
libgnome2-vfs-perl
libgnome2-perl
libgnome2-canvas-perl

Thanks,
Peter

The packages you listed are Gnome 2 bindings for perl and not perl itself. Also, they are still available in 11.04. Just not in the "main" repository. They are in the "universe" repository.
