latest openssh/openssl package for 8.04

Asked by AlexC

Hi,
I'm using 8.04 LTS (server) and have backports enabled.

The latest version of openssl I seem to be able to get is 0.9.8g however I see that for lucid, the latest available version is 0.9.8k. On the OpenSSL site it reports 0.9.8l is the latest. Since I've assumed my version number would get updated on each upgrade, I'm concerned that I seem to be some releases away from the most recent one.

Can someone confirm if that is the case please and if so, whats the best way to get the most recent (0.9.8l) release on to my 8.04 system.

Many thanks,
Alex

(P.S. This also applies to openssh but I'm assuming whatever the answer is to openssl will also apply to openssh)

If you look in the package database (packages.ubuntu.com), 0.9.8g is the current version for Hardy.. I don't know if there are plans to backport "l" to Hardy. The safest way to upgrade if you wanted to, would probably be from source.. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion for that though..

Can you help with this problem?
