Select that document and then hit delete, hit ONLY delete not Shift + Delete.

Do you have full permissions for that document? Please, remember that if it's read only, or you're not the owner of a document, you can't delete it.

In case you *really* need to delete such files, you need to change it's permissions or do it as superuser (sudo command)

Regards.

Could you tell us a bit of information about the document you're trying to erase? What type of file is it?

Also, are you certain it is not open/in use by any programs which are currently running?

You should be able to just right click on the document and hit "move to trash."

they are just regular .odt and .ods documents. i created them, and dont need them anymore. if i right click on them, i get a choice between "Show Hidded Files" and "Show Size Column" with boxes to check off in front of each choice. there is also a choice ''Add To Bookmarks'' but this option is greyed out.

ok, i figured it out. i just had to minimize OpenOffice and was able to drag and drop the document to the Trash, seems like a strange way to do it but it worked anyway.

thank you all for your help
