file corruption during conversion to MSword 2000 .doc file

running an ubuntu jaunty rig with oo3
i work closely with university colleagues who use ms word.
regularly when we work on larger and more complex documents, there seems to be a problem with exporting to ms .doc files.
each time I try to do this, openoffice crashes. it now seems impossible for me to re-export this file to .doc, nor will the file export to xml or rtf. what to do?

You could try some other editor, for example AbiWord. My experience is that AbiWord handles .doc files better, but very complex documents have always been trouble for me.
