i can't translate my documents into spanish

i have to write a two paragraph autobiography in spanish for spanish class. my teacher said it was okay for me to write the paper in english first and then translate it into spanish using the tools bar. i don't see 'set language' in the language tab in Tools. how am i supposed to to do this without having a set language? help me!!!!

As far as I know, you can't actually translate in openoffice. You can do this with google (http://translate.google.com/translate_t#).
You can designate certain blocks of text as being one language or another for the sake of text-alignment, spell-checking and so forth. But you need to install support for the languages you want (I believe they are in the repository).
