Database Open Office

Asked by Piet Beukes

Hi, I have imported Open Office Database very recently and it works (both is Ubuntu 8.04 at home and Kubuntu 8.04 at work). However, I cannot open a database file which I had previously created in MS Office (extention is .mdb). What can I do? as I have various of these files which I need to access.

A similar question was asked a long time ago (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+question/10596) but there still isn't a solution to this problem if I recall correctly. On the internet certain people state that OpenOffice has the option to connect to a Microsoft Database file but in Hardy the option is not available and a quick forum search states that the option is still under development. (See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=656537 which also suggest to install mdbtools-gmdb which is an application to view the contents of an mdb file.)

Can you help with this problem?
