How can I change 5 languages frequently in a table?

Asked by Bo MARTINSSON

Working on an Excel type of setting, each language using one column, I used to use flags indicating a change of language. Russian, German, English, Swedish and French are involved. How can I change languages on the screen in a quick and convenient way using Ubuntu?
Yours faithfully,
Bo Martinsson

I don't fully understand your request. Let me know if this is right: you have an excel file with, let's say, a hidden spreadsheet where you have translations into five languages. You use some kind of setting in this file to detect the language of the user and, accordingly, use the desired column to present the information to the user. Is this right?
If so, what kind of event trigger the language switch? A combo box where the user select the desired one? an OS setting?

Dear Mariano,
My job is simply a 5-language dictionary, especially for technical terms, although it has swelled into other areas as well. I keep adding terms and patching up where something is missing somewhere. I am only looking for a quick way of changing languages. (Russian calls for a change. The rest can be handled from a Swedish keyboard.) Thank you for you willingness to help out.
Yours
Bo

If your sheet is set-up with a column per language, then you can select the column, then select Format -> Cells... and choose the language for that column on the right hand side of the screen that appears.

Of course, you can use the same to set each cell with a different language, but if you use the method I suggest, you should only have to set the sheet up once.
