Importing numbers

Asked by Luis M. Jacinto

I import numbers into OpenOffice this numbers I have to calculate but as are shown they have spaces, I have to edit and delete each space until I get a proper number that I can calculate.
I need a way that I can get this correct automatic on a batch of figures.

Example numbers:
133 709 398
33 164 605
97 001

I asked this question before and the answer dint work, the fall-up question was not answered so the table is getting bigger and a lot of frustration.
Please help I need it badly.

The regional settings are correct to my local region.
This is not error cause by the settings, this comes from the supplier of this tables with this configuration I had the same problem on Excell and QuattroPro but as I switch to OpenOffice I would like to have the facility to convert this so call numbers to proper numerical value.
More explanation:

The figure 133 709 398 Trying to calculate. 133 709 398 X 2 = #VALUE! because the figure is a String this happens with Excell and OpenOffice.
Now taking the spaces out 133709398 X 2 = 267418796 becomes a number and can be calculate.
This is may question if there is way to delete the spaces instead of have done manually.

yes, click on the columns that contain the numbers then do a find and replace. type a space into the find field and leave the replace field empty. and click replace all.

you might have to format the columns to general number.

i hate the way openoffice imports number. before version 2.1, numbers were imported correctly. afterwards, the programmers tried too hard to make openoffice work like ms word and all numbers were imported and converted to dates.
