can't print spreadsheet in Landscape

Asked by Jean Thompson

I have the same inability to print a spreadsheet in Landscape format. I have an HP printer and I choose Landscape but it still prints in Portrait. This is extremely frustrating and wastes lots of paper! The answer given to Aneesh is useless.

Under Format > Page, have you changed the orientation from portrait to landscape? Or have you just tried to change it in the printer dialogue?

I have changed it in the printer dialog and also in a Excel version of
this spr.sheet. In Excel, it does print Landscape but only 6 rows and 6
columns, nothing else prints at all. I want A1:G23.
In ods format, it is all set to print in Landscape but then comes out
Portrait. I think there is now so much unwanted stuff embedded in it
that I'll never get it right. I wish I could copy just the data and
start all over, but 6 hrs of trying has me defeated.
Any help would be appreciated, I need to do it by Monday AM. Thanks!

Try selecting cells then click file -> print then choose to print selected cells.

May work

Print selected cells was the first (and many times) thing I tried. All
cells are highlighted but Excel prints only 6 x 6 rows and columns, ods
will print all but only in portrait, right hand cells appearing on
second page. Landscape should do it on one but doesn't work.

When you select Page Preview, does it show the page in Landscape?

No, Curiously, when I select Page Preview, nothing whatsoever appears,
just a blank page. Format page tells me it is in Landscape, width 11.0,
Height 8.5, so I hit OK, then it prints in Portrait altho printer dialog
box is in Landscape.

That is strange. It suggests something wrong with the document. Try selecting the cells and pasting them into a new, blank, ods format spreadsheet and see if you can configure that to Landscape using Format > Page > Page tab > Paper Format.

Tony Purcell, thank you. I did copy to new blank spr.sht, even then the
problem persisted. My son was finally able to stop by and downloaded the
newest version of Open Office, we were then able to get everything to
work using the new copy. The document must have been corrupted.

Thanks to all. Latest version of Open Office plus last suggestion did it.
