Calc changes everything I type into a date

Asked by pk72

When I enter anything in a calc cell that resembles a date in the least, e.g. a software version number 6.2, calc makes it a date and I cannot prevent it. I switched of all autocorrection and it still does it. The cells were not formatted as dates. I know I can override the behaviour by explicitly formatting the cells as text. But I don't want to format anything just because the stupid software thinks it knows better what should be in the cell. This is driving me mad.
Could someone please help me?
Thanks, Philipp

Hi,

To prevent the number to be interpreted as a date, you may indicate that it is a text by starting with a single quote '

example : '6.2

Hope that helps.
