Asked by Max doiron

Hello, new to ubuntu, long time windows user

I'm having a problem installing ubuntu as a dual boot setup on my computor. However i don't think its a dual boot issue. The first way i have tried to install was with the downloadable windows installer and i chose my extra hdd, all went smooth until it asked to reboot. upon rebooting i selected ubuntu and then it came up with the purple ubuntu screen with the loading "dots" and then....

a blocky mostly white and brown screen comes up and stays, nor mouse or keyboard do anything

then i tried downloading a installer for ubuntu and burned the iso to a dvd . restarted and booted to disc.... same thing! i didnt even get to select what drive to install it on

SPECS:
amd phenom II 925 quad core
4GB DDR3
Nvidia geforce 240gs 512

i think its a video driver thing but i don't know what the fix for that would be
