Booting without starting the X server to install graphics drivers

Need to install new graphics drivers for my Nvidia graphics card but I need to boot without X to get them installed. How do I go about getting this done? I am trying to get my new Nvidia GeForce 210 card to work. I am running the development version of Ubuntu 64 Bit.
