ubuntu 14.04 nfs server client

Asked by Gerlof Brinck

Dear sir/madam,

I have bought a new computer with ubuntu 14.04. So far so good. The computer in my room upstears also working under ubuntu 14.04 I also use as a nfs server. The other computers (all on linux) as the clients and working perfect.

Now the new computer: I have installed nfs-common. I use the line sudo mount 192.168.178.29:/home /media/nfsserver to connect to the server. It does not work. I get the lines:
beneden@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo mount 192.168.178.29:/home /media/nfsserver
[sudo] password for beneden:
mount.nfs: mount point /media/nfsserver does not exist

Have I forgotten to do something? the connection to the network is working oke. I can use the internet and the network printers.

I hope someone can help me out in this.

Thanks beforehand

Kindly regards

Gerlof.

This looks like perhaps you simply forgot to create the directory on the client:

  sudo mkdir /media/nfsserver

As above. The mount point must exist to be used.

Thanks. Yes I have forgotten to make the directory.

I wish you a good end of 2015 and a very good 2016.

Kindly Regards
