I can help you.

First of all, in linux you basically don't require a CD or extra driver, most of the hardware is already supported by the basic system without any extras, if you do need extra software or drivers the computer will tell you (the restricted driver program will pop up).

You can configure your modem using the network manager, in standard ubuntu it's the icon with the 2 computers on to the top right corner (in the panel).

You could have a look at the following page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/SetUpDialer#head-f5120acdc3ef62fe7d37bfd3f0c9157ebe9c8ef6
The best option is to follow the "For Ubuntu, without installing additional software, using NetworkAdmin" paragraph.

If that doesn't work perhaps you should read this page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto although I'm not sure if it still works this way (normally you should be able to do this with the networkadmin/nm-applet stuff.

Please let me know how things go and if the question has been answered probably and your problems have been solved, mark the question as solved.

Can you help with this problem?
