VPN menu doe not appear in Network Manager

Asked by Fel

I have installed the Network Manager applet and its network-manager-pptp extention. I expected that the left mouse click button should bring a menu containing something about VPN but it still contains only "Manual Configuration" menu entry. I use Ubuntu 8.04, Russian language.

Thank you in advance for help!
Felix

Ok, now I have installed the network-manager-vpnc package. Then I logged off and logged in to restart the window manager. I even rebooted but unfortunately this neither helped. Is there anything else I could do?

I have installed this package as well. But the nm applet still shows only manual configuration menu only. Just in case here is the output of "aptitude search network-manager" command run on my computer:
i A network-manager - network management framework daemon
p network-manager-dev - network management framework (development
i network-manager-gnome - network management framework (GNOME fronte
p network-manager-kde - KDE systray applet for controlling Network
i network-manager-openvpn - network management framework (OpenVPN plug
i network-manager-pptp - network management framework (PPTP plugin)
i network-manager-vpnc - network management framework (VPNC plugin)

I had a problem with my machine today. The video card seams to be dead. When I managed to awake the system using the old video card I noticed that now the nm applet does have the VPN menu. I guess somehow the last package fixed this.

Thank you gentlemen for your help very much!
