Using two network cards in Ubuntu

I have noticed that you can only activate one Network card at a time in Ubuntu. But I need to use two active Network Cards in Ubuntu. How do i achieve this?

Perhaps if you don't specify the network card in Samba's smb.conf it will work with both. Have you tried that?

I am not using SAMBA on the machine. I just intend to set it up as an Internet GATEWAY with one Network card connected to the Internet and LAN Users connected to the other card. This is exactly what we are doing with our Windows Machine, but we are in the process of Migrating our systems to UBUNTU.

OK, I see that you marking this for the SAMBA package is a mistake.
The answer to your original question is that Ubuntu will work with two network cards using network-manager just fine. But to answer your new question, the best way to setup a simple gateway/internet-connection-sharing machine with two network cards is to use the package firestarter.

One extra step to it, also install the package "dhcp3-server" in addition to "firestarter".
