Network Manager / applet inactive
My question is related to the problem on question 49849. I was having problems with my wireless (i wasn't able to connect) on 8.04, but then i upgraded to 8.10 and it was kinda fixed, what i mean is, at home, i get to go online with my wireless, but then i went to the library, and i had to ask someone for the name of the wireless network so i could manually put it on Network Configuration (since after the upgrade i dont have the Network option on the menus or the NM applet on the system tray), but then i was unable to connect. like other post said, i tried to type: sudo /etc/init.
At this point, i dont have Network Manager / applet on my system working, i dont know why. I forgot to mention that when i click on the system tray, right next to my speaker icon, the nm applet menu comes up, telling me that the wired and wireless networks are unmanaged, and it shows as SLEEPING on the system monitor, and i discover this almost by accident.
i need help urgent with this, i would really appreciate it, i gotta say, im not experienced at all in linux or programming, so please be kind on the description of the steps to take to fix the problem.
