How do I set dns-search?

dns-search example.com

is an enormously useful setting which resides in /etc/network/interfaces. Annoyingly I can see no way to set this option with nm-connection-editor. Is there a way to do this or do I have to dump this entire package and try to get my laptop working properly without it (which it hasn't for a LONG while)?

Did you set the interface to DHCP ( address only )?

It's set to Automatic (DHCP). If I set the DNS server using (Address only) then moving the laptop on another network might cause problems. The DNS won't work for one.

Can the network manager recognise specific networks and configure as required?

You can edit the interfaces file as you need.

Network Manager is thoroughly incapable and should be removed.

You dont have to use it. I use wicd instead
