I currently have installed jolicloud on the 900ha as it recognizes the wifi out of the box but would like to install ubuntu 10.4 as I have it already installed on my laptop and desktopcomputer.
i have also tried to use ndiswrapper in order to use the xp wifi driver included on the eeepc dvd but it does not work at all with ubuntu. as said everything works fine with jolicloud

Hi,
Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from the https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Regards,
Mark

I found that the following instructions (posted by jloman on NewEgg.com) worked for my ASUS eeePC 1201T.
Note that I had to rerun the make and make install after I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04
--Doug
"For those who cannot get the wireless to work on linux (ubuntu 9.10) here's how
-go to realtek's website for driver support (download section)
-Choose "communications network ICs>wireless lan ICs>WLAN NIC> then choose b/g/n single chip> software > now choose "RTL8192SE"
-(For simplicity just download it to "Downloads" folder)
-go to the folder, click "Extract Here" (I renamed the extracted folder as "RTL8192""
-Open up the application "terminal"
type the following in terminal:
sudo su
cd Downloads |note that the letter the folder begins w/ a capital D|
cd RTL8192SE
make
make install
reboot gk (this will reboot the computer)
then press Fn + F2 and watch for the wifi light to light up. All done ^^ "

Correction: I didn't have re make and make install after upgrading to 10.04 LTS... But I did after applying 9.10 updates to my original 9.10 install (from a magazine distro disk).

@Dacrigon : Step 1 in the procedure was not correctly followed. I asked for output using Terminal in Ubuntu, where the problem occurs. It is not useful to send us output from Jolicloud where wireless is already working. We need output from UBUNTU where wireless is not working.

Try installing the compat-wireless Linux modules (backported versions) using these 2 commands:
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install linux-backports
Then reboot and retest wireless in Ubuntu.
If wireless still does not work after that, then there might be a kernel regression in kernel 2.6.32-21-generic. In that case, you should try an older or newer version of Ubuntu kernel....
Your wireless card works in Jolicloud by using the ath9k driver.
So hopefully the procedure I gave you, will help Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 enable the ath9k driver as well.....
