wireless linksys-N WMP300N

Apparently the WMP300N can be made to work by following this tutorial:

The procedure described in the tutorial is a great deal of work and might be a little too much for a new user. Alternatively you could try grabbing the latest version of Ubuntu (7.04 Herd 5) and installing that. It should contain a newer version of ndiswrapper which might allow you to get the device working with it's Windows drivers.

I found the easiest way to get the Linksys Wireless N cards to work was this:
1. Open Synaptic Package Manager (System -->Administration-->Synaptic Package Manager
1a. enter root password
2. Click SEARCH and enter ndiswrapper.
3. Left click ndiswrapper and mark for installation.
4. Click Apply to install.
5. ***This is a must!*** To set ndiswrapper to load on startup: open a terminal and copy and paste or type:
sudo ndiswrapper -m
then
sudo gedit /etc/modules
-will open the modules file-
6. Add the following to the list:
ndiswrapper
7. Now to install the driver for ndiswrapper do this:
7a. Again, open Synaptic Package Manager (see step 1)
8. Search for ndisgtk (follow steps 3 and 4 for ndisgtk)
9. When install is finished insert the CD that came with your wireless card and go to: System -->Administration-->Windows Wireless Drivers then install the the .inf driver (ex Lsbcmnds.inf) directly from the CD.
10. do a Ctrl,Alt,BackSpace or simply reboot AND ENJOY!

Hi, I recently got this card and I've followed the instructions and for some reason I only see G networks, the N one I am looking for doesn't show on the visible wireless networks. Ive confirmed on two other computers that the N network I am looking for is visible. Could someone direct me to a workaround for this problem.

This worked for me for my AIRGO Belkin wireless g card. I have tried a few other ways to go, but this did the trick, Thanks! I did not even have to disable my on board wireless nic!

Thanks to A-Dub for this useful information in regards with Linksys Wireless N card installation. There's a bunch of postings like this all over the Net but this one is precise and to the point!!!

Believe me, I've read quite a few of them and tried 'em out on my Debian desktop. BUT

When I do

I get a warning window "Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found. Is the ndiswrapper module installed?"

And when I admit this message by clicking on "OK" button I can see bcmwl5 driver installed. But I don't see any wireless networks yet (although they are up and running and I can reach them using our household laptops - both Vista and Mac).

I reboot computer and still don't see any wlans on my desktop. Although lspci command in terminal is showing the card as
00:08.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43XG (rev 01)

and "ndiswrapper -l" command returns
bcmwl5: driver installed
device (14E4:4329) present (alternate driver: ssb)

It's kind of ironic cause I managed to install this card on my previous Ubuntu installation (after a few days of trials and errors). I even bookmarked the web-page directed me to a succesful wireless driver set up. Well, it's my luck (or simply lack of experience). I can't mount my old Ubuntu drive on Debian now and find FireFox bookmarks )))))

So, if somebody could steer me in the right direction, I'd appreciate your time and efforts very much

I'm having the same problem and I get the same results with "ndiswrapper -l". If someone knows where to go from this point instructions would greatly be appreciated.
