Can't find files under the folder programs

linux doesn't use drive letters. It uses mount points.

Can you please provide the output of:

mount; sudo fdisk -l

i succeeded in deleting it with another program.. but problem still remains that i can't see the files..

it seems i didn't make it clear enough that i don't have any knowledge at all in ubuntu, i just installed it today, so your question isn¨t understandable to me :(

press alt+f2
type terminal
press enter
paste the command
press enter
select the text like you would in a text based file
right click -> copy
paste the text here as an update

Did you install Ubuntu or you are running it by booting from the LiveCD?
If you installed it did you make dual boot (at boot up you have choice of loading Ubuntu or Vista) or you have the Ubuntu OS only?

If you click the Places menu on the top panel on your screen, and then desktop, the file manager will open. It has a column on the left where you can see the drives your computer has.
Now, Vihar's question is the key in order to help you find the files in your C:\ drive in windows.
#If you run Ubuntu from a LiveCD, without installing it, or
#if you installed ubuntu in its own partition: click on the hard disk drive where you have windows installed. You should see all the folders in it.
#If you have installed Ubuntu as an application inside windows (at boot up you have to choose between loading Ubuntu or Vista): in that same column on the left, click on Filesystem, and then you'll see many folders on the right. Double-click "host", and you'll find the content of the C:\ drive.

i haven't made dual boot, so i can't boot unless from cd, but i did install it as an applikation (for some reason my pc will only accept me running ubuntu if i use it as cd boot)

so you basically want access to the host windows system from ubuntu?

yeah.. it's weird, if i go into the c:/windows directory i can see all the files i want but not in programs ? ... if i'm asking something that is impossible, just tell me, i'm fine without a solution, but i just wonders if there is one..

thats most likely because wubi may give access to the folder to the guest system. You will NOT be able to launch windows apps on the host system in wubi. Its simply not possible. You will need to install them in the wubi install under wine (assuming that it is compatible, check http://appdb.winehq.org/)

i'm not interested in running windows apps but as far as i can see i should be able to use my mp3 and other files on ubuntu (if i get the chance to get to them)

I don't use wubi as I think its an appauling piece of software, much like the live gentoo cd. Maybe someone else can contribute.

Incidentally, you should have worded this question:

"Access to windows files from wubi" as your question states programs which, as you have said, has nothing to do with what you are trying to achieve.

Well Petzki,
if you have about 4 - 40 GB free on your disk and if you are of interest of Ubuntu - just install it to dual boot with Windows. Be careful and read EVERYTHING IN EVERY page during install of Ubuntu.
Than you'll get the max of Ubuntu.

But if something is suspicious in installation Ubuntu - just go back and think and if no way - cancel the installation.
Then ask here again.
