How to change ICON for Nautilus

Asked by John Ellsworth

On my Desktop computer the icon for Nautilus was a picture of an actual Nautilus (snail shell), which I have come to associate with the program. The desktop is gone now, and I have migrated my data to a new laptop, but I can't figure out how to change the icon for Nautilus to the snail shell icon that I had before. This isn't a big deal, and doesn't affect the operation, but it just seems much more classy to me than having a common file folder for the icon.

You can set the icon set to gnome and it should set. You can alternatively change the 'Icon=' line in:

/usr/share/applications/nautilus-home.desktop

To:

/usr/share/pixmaps/nautilus.xpm

And it will change it, if the icon s of low res, just download another file online and you can set it in the same way, just reference the file absolutely.

Can you help with this problem?
