Files on Ubuntu desktop missing and right click disabled

Asked by Manoj Krishnan

I am a beginner and ran a command( I suppose I installed seahorse) to protect a folder with password. After restarting i found all desktop files missing and right click disabled. I tried different methods by taking online help from different ubuntu fora, but the problem has still not been solved and I find it difficult to operate. Now i can select a file by only running a command 'nautilus' from the terminal. even the side menu bar is not visible ( after going through a lot of changes).

A feedback would be appreciated.Should I have to reinstall ubuntu 11.04 ???

Thanks

No,

You should upgrade your Ubuntu version . Ubuntu 11.04 it will EOL in a few days. No support further.

My suggestion is : Backup your personal data and download and install Ubuntu 12.04.1

Download Link : http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/

Thanks

Please don't reinstall Natty. You will simply need to upgrade really soon so a new install of Precise is probably a wiser choice as far as a support standpoint is concerned.

Can you help with this problem?
