file move permissions

I would like to move a game icon from my desktop to my games folder under applications, however, when I copy paste I am prevented due to not having the correct permission. Why? How can I do make the move?

I think you want to move the game itself. You can create a shortcut by pressing Alt+F2, and then pasting this command, without quotes:

"gnome-desktop-item-edit --create-new ~/Desktop"
