You can purge the whole trash folder by going to the terminal and running:
rm -rf ~/.local/share/Trash/

Perhaps someone can understand. I want to "open" the trash to see the 57 items that are in there. I do not want to p8rge anything just yet. I want to see what is in there and I cannot open the file. It just spins its wheels and does nothing. I do not want to do anything with "terminal" if it cannot be done another way I will just have to empty the folder. Thanks whoever tries.

I will state again, deleting is not the problem. Opening the file to see what is in there is the problem. I hope I have explained myself adequately. Thanks

- Open nautilus
- Press CTRL + L
- Type /home/yourusername/.local/share/Trash/files (don't forget to replace "yourusername" by your username)
- Press ENTER
- You're in the trash !

You can now create a shortcut on the desktop or the panel to this path.

Apparently you have to be a programmer for redoing this thing. I had no choice but to go ahead and empty the trash and do the item that I lost over again. No one seems to know how to fix it without programming. That is, to use the terminal. So the problem was not solved but I accept that I must go on anyway. Thanks everyone.

I have just ordered an XP computer to do all my Pagemaker, Print Shop and Photoshop work. I am too old to be on this steep learning curve. I will also hook up the printer and scanner and my music program and new speaker to the new set. That is easy. This wine business is slow as molasses in January.

I do most of my work on the Internet and my blogs using the Ubuntu computer. It does very well there. I will not extend it any further. I made my big mistake in putting all of Ubuntu on the computer. Tough.
