Ubuntu does not see my camera

I have a sony vgc-lt23e with build in camera and 10.4 32-bit does not see it.

open ubuntu software center,then search for and download an application called cheese. then run the program from applications > sound & video

If you treat users like idiots they will act as idiots. Its a simple compile of some sourcecode. The commands are all laid out too.

he just wants his camera to work, he doesn't want to learn how to compile programs. for you it might be simple but not for him, this is one of the reasons why people are still reluctant to use Linux.

Tell that to realtek who give source only for their drivers. The commands are simple. Its like following a cooking recipe. We aren't proffessional chefs but can follow cooking instructions to make the meal described.

Remove the g from the end of the command. G is not a package. Please remember to accurately copy commands and read the output and compare it with the command you ran as well as the actual commmand needed.
If you read outputs then you will get further and faster
