Recording HDTV in .mpg files Instead of .nuv files

Asked by Gary Doucet

I have been recording ATSC HDTV (1920x1088) for a year , using my Haupauge HRV-1600 card , in an mpg format.

Lately I had to reinstall mythtv using the synaptic package Manager.

1 the Backend seams to find the card (a Samsung S5H1409 Subtype ATSC)

2 It scans all my available channels

3 it won't let me watch tv

4 it records a nuv format file , witch is not compatible with mplayer VLC or avidemux

Is there a way to fix this or Is this a change in orientation in mythtv , if so is there a way to get previous releases

Hoping someone can help me with this problem.

Gary

Thanks Andrew for the above mentioned link.

Unfortunately this article only conforms my fear , Mythtv has changed their codec and default settings.

Now i would need some help on how to setup the codecs using the GUI Mythtvfrontend to record HDTV ,1920x1080i (like it used to a year ago).

Hoping someone can still help me so I won't have to go back to Windows Wintv.
