Accessing MySql on Netbeans on Ubuntu11.10

I need to access Mysql ver( 5.1)server on netbeans ver (7.1) . All answers or advice given do not help on ubuntu 11.10 ( have recently upgraded to this version so not helping . Need help to know which would be mysqladmin tool and commands to start and stop commands .tem

would help if you check by having both netbeans and mysql installed on the same systeim and check if you see if mysql works fine .

Another question there is no package for the latest version of mysql 5.5 and (ubuntu or debian) has not made it available. mysql has already announced the End of life date in 2012 for all versions below 5.5 in some time next year .

Netbeans is already ported to ubuntu .Works great otherwise ,

I could send screen shots and more on what i want if I have a email address . !

The problem has been solved
Was an error I did in data entering .This is an feature in netbeans has feature to link to Oracle or MySql arunning on the same machine .

Can close this error But will still request to make MySQLversion 5.5 make available for ubuntu users
