Request to update mpd to major release 0.22

Asked by nonexistent account

On September 23rd MPD devs released a major update to version 0.22. Considering that the version shipped with ubuntu is 7 releases behind, there are numerous bug fixes that could potentially render the bugs filed on Launchpad as resolved. Furthermore this version has numerous enhancements.

I would kidly ask the maintainers to update the package. Changelog here:

This is generally not a good place to contact package maintainers. Please file a bug for that:
ubuntu-bug mpd

Note that Debian just pulled in mpd 0.21.26 a few days ago, so maybe your bug can request an FFE to pull that into Ubuntu 20.10:

https://tracker.debian.org/news/1178368/accepted-mpd-02126-1-source-into-unstable/

I could also try and put it in a PPA if not successful. I see there are lots of PPA's for mpd, but unfortunately, they all seem to be several years old.

I have 0.21.26 in my PPA (for 20.04/Focal): https://launchpad.net/~dtl131/+archive/ubuntu/mediahacks2
I'm also working on 0.22.x, and have it basically working, but a few small issues with manpage paths that I'd like to straighten out if possible.

Can you help with this problem?
